I love Nik software that I bought most of the programs they offer but the Efex Pro is the best along with PSPx4

I use it for all my portraits, landscapes, babies etc.Ĭlassical Soft Focus, Darken/Lighten Center, Dynamic Skin Softener and Vignette filters are joined by nine exciting new filters including Film Effects, Glamour Glow, High Key, Tonal Contrast, Bleach Bypass If you google Nik software and watch the video on this Color Efex Pro of all the filters that come with that alone will make up your mind. X4 Ultimate comes with Nik® Color Efex Pro™ 3.0 photo effects and filters and these are AWESOME to have, if you buy X4 go for the ultimate to get this extra. I use it for all my photography editing, the x4 Ultimate is a wonderful program and very easy to understand. I have the PSPX4 Ultimate Bundle pack, and its GREAT! If you have dual monitors this works great as it supports dual. Well I can't help you with the Lightroom or Elements 10 but I do know about PSPX4 i have been using PSP way back started with PSP 8

PaintShop Pro and Elements can probably be considered equal, each having its own strengths and weaknesses, but (and I say this as someone who recently bought PSP X4 for old times sake - I actually use Photoshop CS5 as my main editor) I know that there's better support and a more active internet userbase for Adobe products, and I get the sense that they're generally considered to be more stable than Corel's product.īut if you're only after relatively basic editing, free software like The Gimp,, Photofiltre Free Edition, Picasa or Microsoft Photo Gallery might all do the job: I mention the last two for completeness, but the first two are very capable (The Gimp being more challenging to use, having a rather unconventional interfaced) and Photofiltre being pretty capable but very easy to use, and a tiny download. Just to start the ball rolling, Lightroom isn't really "editing" software, it's a Raw converter and cataloguing application with some editing capabilities, so - for your status purposes - it can probably be ruled out.
